INFORMATIONAL UPDATES

Greetings from the NAACP in the Southeast Region, the NAACP’s largest Region and the cradle of the civil rights movement. After over 20 years the NAACP returns to South Carolina to host the Southeast Region Convention and Civil Rights Advocacy Training Institute. This is the first official NAACP national sponsored event to be held in the state since the removal of the confederate flag from the State House grounds. Over 500 grassroots community activists, organizers and partner advocacy organizations from across the seven states in the Southeast Region (Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee) will gather in Columbia for four days of intensive activism training. The four-day gathering is scheduled from March 28 – 31, 2019 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center in Columbia, South Carolina.

Over 500 grassroots community activists and organizers from across the seven states in the Southeast Region (Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee) will gather in Columbia for four days of intensive activism training.

Participants will be network and train around the NAACP’s 2020 Civic Engagement Plan {Voter Registration/Education, GOTV, Census, Reapportionment, and Redistricting}. In addition, participants will be work with effective and reliable training and information sharing in the six NAACP advocacy areas:

Education, Civic Engagement/Voter, Empowerment, Criminal Justice, Health, Economic, Empowerment and Community Advocate Training. In addition, attendees participate in special events and hear motivational speakers who will leave them inspired and energized.

The Regional CRATI highlights the heroic people and historic events that helped to make South and America better in the quest for civil and human rights. This conference will attract over 500 local community advocates, regional and national leaders.

YOUTH PERMISSION SLIPS:
Permission slips and liability forms for all youth ages 18 and under will be provided. These forms must have the proper signatures for the youth to attend the conference. Please copy the forms as needed.

 

HOTEL PARKING
Please note there is a self-parking fee of $15.12 per day if you plan on parking your car at the Hilton Columbia Center Hotel.

ADDITIONAL PARKING
There will be additional parking available at the Convention Center. The convention center is located directly across the street from the Hilton Hotel.
