Congratulations to the SC NAACP for being the 2020 recipient of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Director’s Community Leadership Award. On Saturday, March 14, 2020, Supervisory Special Agent James DeLoatch, III and Denise Taiste, Public Affairs Specialist within the Columbia FBI Field Office, presented the award to Mrs. Brenda C. Murphy, President of the South Carolina State Conference for the NAACP in the presence of the SC NAACP Executive Committee. This special award, presented on behalf of the Director of the FBI, was formally created in 1990 to honor individuals and organizations for their efforts in combating crime, terrorism, drugs, and violence in America. Mrs. Murphy was nominated by the SC FBI field office and selected by the National FBI Agency for demonstrating outstanding leadership and contributions to our local communities through service. The FBI extends their thanks and gratitude to Mrs. Murphy and the SC State Conference of the NAACP for being stewards of civil rights and addressing issues of the marginalized; while being a voice for the voiceless.
