Volunteers for King Day at the Dome 2016
The 2016 King Day at the Dome Planning Committee is seeking volunteers to assist with local organizing in communities across South Carolina. We are also recruiting individuals to serve as marshals and event staff during the King Day event scheduled Monday, January 18, 2016 in Columbia, South Carolina.
Current Volunteer Opportunities
Marshals*: assist with lineup for the King Day at the Dome march; help position materials for events; and provide instructions to participants.
Event Staff*: assist with execution of the major statewide events; coordinate functions such as program and logistics on Monday, January 18th.
Faith Outreach Coordinator: build awareness in the faith community and local church support for the Campaign for Dignity and King Day at the Dome.
Campus Coordinators and Youth Coordinators: establish local contact with student groups and youth organizations to increase participation in King Day at the Dome.
Communications Coordinator: conduct local outreach efforts to increase community awareness of the negative impact of the Confederate Battle Flag that flies on our State House grounds; distribute data on other core issues of our campaign, such as: education equity; economic prosperity; health care; and equal justice.
Fundraising Assistant: conduct donor contacts and follow-up calls; expand pubic and donor support for King Day at the Dome and the Campaign for Dignity in South Carolina.
Public Relations Coordinator: assist with keeping press contacts current; monitor media coverage and commentary; and give advice on message development for targeted delivery.
