Our Keynote Speaker

Senator Ronnie Sabb, a Williamsburg County native, delivered a captivating keynote speech at the event, emphasizing the theme of "Fighting Forward: Breaking Down Barriers." As the president of the Sabb Law Group, he specializes in personal injury cases, successfully representing numerous clients. Senator Sabb's dedication extends beyond his legal career, as evidenced by his service on the Williamsburg County School Board and his volunteer work as a basketball coach. Additionally, he has achieved remarkable milestones in politics, serving as a South Carolina House Representative and becoming the first African-American Senator for Senate District 32. Senator Sabb's unwavering commitment to justice, demonstrated through his legal expertise and active community engagement, establishes him as an influential and respected figure.

Dr. Linda J. Bell

Dr. Bell has served a prominent role throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, providing science-based public education and shedding light on longstanding health disparities that contributed to the disproportionate impact of the pandemic on African Americans. For her efforts, Dr. Bell has been recognized as the 2023 Presidential Citation for Health Advocacy.

Dr. Baron Davis

Dr. Baron Davis is an educational leader with 24 years of experience in shaping comprehensive, high-achieving, and inclusive K-12 education ecosystems. Driven by a deep passion for education, Dr. Davis consistently strives to create impactful change and ensure holistic success within educational communities. Dr. Davis has been recognized as the 2023 Presidential Citation for Education Advocacy.

Mr. Elder James Johnson

Mr. Elder James Johnson is a highly respected civil rights veteran with over forty years of experience advocating for justice and equality. With a long history of standing up against injustice, Mr. Johnson has tirelessly worked to shed light on these pressing matters and bring about meaningful change. His unwavering commitment to fighting for the rights of marginalized communities has earned him immense respect and recognition in civil rights circles. Mr. Johnson has been recognized as the 2023 Presidential Citation for Racial Justice Advocacy.

Mr. James T. Mclawhorn Jr.

Mr. McLawhorn is the esteemed president and CEO of the Columbia Urban League since 1979. He is a nationally recognized leader in race and community relations, with appearances in numerous media outlets. Mr. McLawhorn's leadership also led to the publication of 'The State of Black South Carolina,' an influential annual report. Mr. Mclawhorn Jr. has been recognized as the 2023 Presidential Citation for Racial Justice Advocacy
